William W. Storey's Obituary
William Weaver “Bill” Storey, 80, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 17, at the Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, at 2:30 pm at Restland Memorial Park in the Memorial Chapel. Bill was born in Dallas on June 27, 1935, to parents Leland Lafayette Storey and Margaret Weaver Storey. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1953 and continued on to receive an degree in chemical engineering from Rice University. He served our country in the U.S. Navy as the engineering officer of a destroyer escort during the early days of the Vietnam conflict. Bill married Elizabeth Ann Washburn on June 29, 1962, and celebrated their 53rd anniversary this past summer. He worked as an aerospace engineer for LTV and Lockheed-Martin for 43 years. From childhood, Bill attended the First Baptist Church of Dallas and remained an active member throughout his life. He taught youth Sunday school and participated in training union for many years. Bill and Elizabeth were active members of the Pathfinders Bible class at the church for 25 years. He enjoyed traveling across Texas, military history, long walks through Dallas parks, Cowboys football, prowling through Half-Price Books, and playing with his grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children Alan Storey and Laura Starzer, and grandchildren Holden Starzer, Ben Storey and Anna Storey.
