Willie Jaye Sanford's Obituary
Willie Jaye Sanford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and GiGi passed away on November 21, 2019 in her home. She was born December 2, 1929 to the parentage of the late Vernal and Lollie Jackson in Malone, Texas.She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas,Texas and Texas College in Tyler, Texas.Willie Jaye married James Edward Sanford in 1949 and they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.She was a member of Smith Chapel AME Church where she sang in the choir. Later she joined New Jerusalem AME Church where she served as a stewardess until declining health prevented her from doing so.Mrs. Sanford’s professional career began at UT Southwestern Medical School where, for many years, she was a Histologist. She finished her professional life as the Vice President of Anatomic Laboratory Operations at AMLaboratories.She is survived by her husband of 70 years, James Edward Sanford; sister, Linda Jean Bolding; daughters: Sherrill (Joe) Hearne, Celeste (James) Brown and Martha Sanford; grandchildren: Brett Allen Rayson and Kelsee S. Hearne and great-grandchild, James Kameron Hearne.Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at New Jerusalem AME Church 6615 Tyree St., 75209. Visitation is one hour prior to service.
