Woody Robertson Flynt Jr.'s Obituary
Woody Roberson Flynt Jr. died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, in Weatherford at the age of 82. Service: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Memorials: Donations may be made in his name to your church or to Cook Children’s Medical Center, Fort Worth, where his granddaughter is active on the Youth Advisory Council. He was born May 21, 1928, in Kemp. At 40, he decided to go into the ministry. He went back to school and finished his B.A. and master’s in theology. In 1972 he was assigned to his first church, Maypearl/Venus. Through the next 25 years he served several churches in the United Methodist Central Texas Conference, including Frost UMC, St. Paul’s in Temple, Forest Hill UMC, Springtown UMC, Alvarado UMC, Robinson Drive UMC and Herring Avenue UMC in Waco. He also served as a chaplain for the Forest Hill Police Department. Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan E. Holmes; and children, Stan and Cynthia Flynt Standfield, W.R. “Rob” and Becky Flynt, Tom and Shari Flynt Williamson, and Richard “Rick” and Dee Dee Flynt. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and his brother, Hugh Brooks and Betty Flynt.
