Jose Peralta Ampil, D.M.D., M. Sc., age 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in McKinney, Texas. He was born to Dr. Jesus Ampil and Dr. Angela Peralta Ampil on October 27, 1928, in Philippines. Jose leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him Dr. Jose Peralta Ampil served as an Intelligence Operative of the 7th Military District Intelligence Office (DIO 7MD) in Negros Occidental, Philippines. He graduated with a degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine and Doctor of Optometry from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippine. He was also a graduate of the Advance R.O.T.C. and was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant in the Philippine Army. After his graduation he came to the United States to further his knowledge in Dentistry. He served as an intern at the Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, a two year residency at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, and a Master of Science in Dentistry at Ohio State University. He moved to Dallas, TX in 1967. For many years he practiced Maxillofacial Prosthodontics and served as a Clinical Associate Professor in Oral/Maxillofacial at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas. After retiring, he still practiced his profession to senior citizens in nursing homes. In addition to his family life and professional career, Jose was an integral part of the Filipino community in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He was the founder of the Club Filipino of Dallas and the Philippine Association of Dallas. His efforts lead to a proclamation in honor of the Filipinos in Texas, July 3rd as Philippine - American Friendship Day in Texas by Governor Dolph Brisco. The Mayor of the City of Dallas, Robert Folsom passed a similar proclamation July 3, 1978 as Philippine - American Friendship Day in Dallas. He was also one of the chairmen of the 1980 Bayanihan Committee to bring the performance group to Dallas for the first time. He was always well known for his joke telling. Whether his jokes were funny or not we all still laughed and enjoyed hearing it. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Rest In Peace “Pepe”!
