Abbigail (Gail) Lauterbach Gibson's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Abbigail (Gail) Gibson on April 3, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Hope, Arkansas on October 17, 1938, Gail was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, known for her warm heart, love of singing, silly sense of humor, and tireless dedication to her family and community.
A long-time resident of Garland, Texas, Gail was a founding member of Northside Baptist Church, where she gave selflessly to both her church family and the surrounding community. She was known for her love of cooking, always eager to share a meal with anyone in need, and for her love of games, which brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. Gail never met a stranger, and her home and heart were open to everyone she met. Her beautiful blue eyes and infectious smile filled every room with love.
Gail was a devoted mother and will be deeply missed by her children Dianna Henson and Regina Whiteley. Her legacy continues through her cherished sisters Elizabeth (Liz) Bobo, Mary May, Linda Bell, and her brother Jack Lauterbach as well as her grandchildren Christopher Henson, Daniel Henson, Alexandria (Alex) Whiteley, Serenity Ramirez, Dory Treisch, Jared Mock and Diedrich (Tate) McBride. She was also deeply loved by her nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-grandchildren, as well as the many "adopted" children she embraced with open arms. She was preceded in death by her husband Royce Gibson, her daughter Patricia Gibson, her parents Harry Lauterbach, Mary Katheryn Lauterbach, stepmother Jean Lauterbach and brothers Donald Lauterbach, Billy Lauterbach and Daniel (Danny) Lauterbach.
A gathering to honor Gail’s life will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. Family and friends are invited to join us at 1:00 PM for a visitation, with the service beginning at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Ken Williams. Following the service, there will be a burial at 3:00 PM, and all are welcome to join the family for a meal afterward.
Gail was a one-of-a-kind and her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. Her generous spirit and love for her family will continue to inspire us all.
