Adaline Miller's Obituary
MILLER, ADALINE of Plano lost her hard fought battle and is now at peace with her Lord and Savior. She was born May 26, 1920 in Estella, TX to Wm. Richard and Vergie Burlison. Was one of the youngest of eleven children and graduated from Duncanville High School. She married the love of her life, Thomas Wesley Miller on January 21, 1939 and they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary shortly before Tom’s death. Adaline was a Top Realtor in the Dallas and Plano area for over 30 years. She and Tom were both real estate brokers. They founded Dallas Southwest Real Estate in the late 1960’s. Due to Tom’s health, they sold the brokerage and Adaline joined the Ebby Halliday Realtors organization. After finishing her real estate career, she volunteered at the Plano Senior Citizen Center. She is survived by her daughter Kay Cheek and husband Roger Cheek of Plano; two grandchildren Scott Cheek, his wife Lee Ann Cheek and Corey Cheek, all of Dallas; two great grandchildren Carson and Riley Cheek; Sister Leona Bryant of Canton; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors. Aside from family and real estate, her greatest enjoyment came from sports and politics. She was an avid Cowboys and Ranger fan. In the late 1970’s she and Tom went to the Super Bowl and cheered on the Dallas Cowboys to a victory. She was also active in local Republican politics having volunteered and often attended conventions. To many she and Tom were known as “Nenaw and Gingy”. They were frequent observers at the grandchildren’s school and sports activities, generally wearing their matching Nenaw and Gingy windbreakers. She was always ready to participate or attend any function if her grandkids and great grandkids were there. Adaline will be remembered as an unselfish, caring and strong willed woman who always had a smile for you. Heaven just got another angel. Her family wishes to give a special Thank You to her health and caregiving providers: Zella Lilley, LaKeisha Montgomery, Natalie Jones, Ardent Hospice Group, Nurse Lee Poole, Reach Out, wound care nurses Cynthia Dupes and Deborah Jenkins and Baylor In Home Care System. She and Tom were long time members of the Waterview Church of Christ in Richardson and later the McDermott Road Church of Christ in Plano. Family Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, April 30, 2014 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
