Adeline Christine Grant's Obituary
Died July 3, 2009, in Ft.Worth. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on June 14, 1917, and remained a life-long resident of the city. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1935, where she was editor of the senior class literary publication. After graduation she went to work for the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of America, where she worked-except for a hiatus to raise her children-until 1978. She married Charles P. Grant in 1939 and they spent 70 wonderful years together. A devoted mother, she was a Sunday school teacher, room mother, and Cub Scout den mother. In retirement, she became an active member of the Library Committee at University Park United Methodist Church and a loving grandmother to her three granddaughters, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her brother, C. E. Brogren, Jr.; her sister, Dorothy B. Russell; and her son, Charles P. Grant, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Charles P. Grant; her son, Carl David Grant and his wife, Deborah; and three granddaughters, Allison Howard and husband, Rob, Amanda Grant and fiancee, James Powell, and Carolyn Grant. Memorials can be made either to Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America, 8605 Harry Hines, Dallas, TX 75235, or to the Library Fund at University Park United Methodist Church, 4024 Caruth Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75225. Funeral will be at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Wildwood Chapel at Restland in Dallas. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Tuesday, July 7, at Restland.
