Mr Adis Leon Hawkins' Obituary
Adis Leon Hawkins was born on April 9, 1947, in Bixby, Oklahoma. He attended grade school in Bixby and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Tulsa, in 1965. During his employment with McDonnell Douglas in 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army, in which he received numerous honors. In September of 1968, Adis united in marriage with JoVitha Bland. Shotrly after their union, Adis went to Vietnam. Having served in various positions in this historic war, he was honored to be a surviving veteran. During their union, two children were born, TaJuan and JeMese. At the time of his passing, Buddy was employed at American Airlines along with his wife. Regarding Buddy’s most memorable pleasure, landscaping was really his art. Being a mastered artist of the yard, the Tulsa community-at-large have enjoyed his great works for many years. Buddy has been recognized specifically by the Gilcrease Hills Association for his garden floral arrangments and manicured yard work. Additionally, he was an achieved golfer in progress. Prior to Buddy’s sudden passing, he became a remarkable husbnad, father, and servant of God. His eventual walk with the Heavenly Father is one of the most valuable messages in his death. As evidenced through his life, there is always room at the cross for everyone. Buddy was raised by his grandparents, Roosevelt, Sr. and Vertie Bell Hawkins, who preceded him in death. TaJuan Leon Hawkins (son), Pamela Sims (sister), Choyce “Bo” Sims (brother), Ida Mae Sims (mother), Wanda Sims (sister), and Roosevelt Hawkins, Jr. (uncle) also preceded him in death. Buddy leaves to cherish his memory: JoVitha Hawkins, his devoted and persevering wife; his daughter, JeMese Hawkins-Chamberlain; his inherited son, Kelvin Chamberlain; his mother-in-law, Cynthia Bland; one sister, Enger Sims; a special niece, Keshia Sims; seven dear aunts – Leomia Parker, Mevelene Lyons (Robert), Vertie Goff (Ernie), Roxy Goff, Emma Riser, LaNetta Adkism (Floyd), and Lillian Graham; two dear uncles, Buford Goff (Teresa) and Edward Hawkins (Delores); two sisters-in-law, Larcine and Joan Bland; two brothers-in-law, Glover and Gregory Bland; his golf partner/cousin, Dale Goff; a wonderful neighbor and friend, Randy McKenney (Lynn); the Gilcrease Hills community; the American Airlines family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
