Adolph Frank Moravec Jr.'s Obituary
Moravec, Adolph “Al” F. ~ Passed away February 4, 2011 into God’s loving embrace. He was born May 21, 1920 in Gloversville, NY to Adolf and Anna Moravec. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Minna “Cris” Moravec, and his sons Randolph (Kerry) of Richardson and David (Maggie Fox) of Chicago. Al was also blessed with five grandchildren – Matthew (Margaret) Moravec, Houston; Kacie (Byron) Bevers, Kingwood; Emily Moravec, Dallas; Calvin Moravec, Chicago; and Katrina Moravec, Chicago. Al served his country in the Pacific Theatre of World War II as a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Australia and the Philippines. He was in the Air Force reserves and retired as a lieutenant colonel. Following the war he went to school on the GI Bill, and received his bachelor degree from Southern Methodist University and his MBA degree from Texas Christian University. Al worked as a computer systems manager, procurement manager, and consultant for a number of firms including TRW Inc., General Dynamics, Booz-Allen Applied Research, and Systemation Inc. Al and Cris retired in San Antonio where he volunteered as a docent at the Institute of Texan Cultures, and as a disk jockey for Trinity University’s classical radio station. Al and Cris were active members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio. Al is remembered by his family and friends as a loving and generous man with a winning smile. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, located at 421 Custer Rd., Richardson, TX 75080 at 11:30 a.m., Friday, February 18th. Memorial in lieu of flowers may be made to either the Network of Community Ministries or the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
