Dr. Adrienne Winifred Richards Slaughter Stern Hackimer's Obituary
Adrienne Winifred Richards Slaughter Stern Hackimer passed peacefully on 6 June 2015 in Dallas, at 91. Many will miss her cheerful, boundless energy and giving spirit. Adrienne was born on March 9, 1924 in New York City and as a very young child was featured the baby parade. She inspired many for decades as a school counselor in Rumson, New Jersey, and Kilgore, Texas and earned her PhD from Southwest University. An avid world traveler, she journeyed to many states, every continent, the Arctic Circle and enjoyed this pastime into her very late years. She was also influential in animal rescue with the North Texas Boston Terrier Club. She is preceded in death by her husbands Joseph Slaughter, Sheldon Stern, and Charles Hackimer. She is survived by her devoted son Scott A. Slaughter, his wife Teri of Dallas, grandsons Alex Slaughter of Denton and Christopher Slaughter of Austin. Daughter Wendy Foist, her husband Charles, of Granbury, and sons Shawn Foist of Ozark, Al, and Heath Foist of Dallas, as well as a great granddaughter Brooke Foist of Ozark also survive her. Service will be held at 12:30pm Saturday June 20, 2015 at the Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Dallas based animal rescue organizations. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
