Albert Lionel Gagneux's Obituary
Albert Lionel Gagneux passed from this life on January 28, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1926 in west Monroe, Louisiana to Albert T. and Helen Pittman Gagneux. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary and Carolyn, and two brothers, Charles and Lyndon. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Flossye, his daughter Lorna and husband Bob Schendock of Virginia, son Stuart and wife Karen Gagneux of Massachusetts, grandson Ryan Gagneux and great-grandson Owen of New Hampshire. Also survived by sister Irma and husband Chuck Goldsmith of Virginia, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Albert, known to all as Al, graduated from Pioneer High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. After training in San Diego, he was assigned to U.S.S. Mona Island in the South Pacific and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa. After Navy discharge, went to LSU and graduated with a B.S in Chemical Engineering. He worked 35 years with Mobil Corporation and retired in 1986. He enjoyed a cabin in New Mexico and loved to jog and run. In his later years he enjoyed playing pickle-ball at the Addison Athletic Club. He called Prestoncrest Church of Christ his home where he was involved in various ministries.
