Mr. Albert William Larsen's Obituary
Albert (Al) William Larsen went to be with his Lord on Friday July 15, 2022. Al was born on June 19, 1933, in Eugene, Oregon. He was the oldest child of Noel W. and Alberta Armstrong Larsen.
Al’s family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where he grew up working on farms. Al was an all-star athlete in high school. After graduation he met and married Mary Alice Kellow in 1952. Al and Mary Alice had two sons, David William Larsen, and Douglas Albert Larsen and one daughter, Julia Marie Larsen Oliver.
He moved his family to Dallas, Texas in 1960 where he worked as Parts Manager for Coastal Plains and Bearings Specialist until his retirement in 1995. Upon moving to Dallas, Al and his family joined East Grand Baptist Church where he was a member until 1971. Al was active in the church serving as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon and played on the greatest fast pitch softball team ever! He won awards for his play in right field and at first base with his team winning numerous State Championships. Al’s teammates fondly nicknamed him “Ali BooBoo”. He could really lay down that drag bunt as a leftie!
In 1974, Al married Perley Billingsley and helped raise four more sons, Sam, Mike, Dan, and Joel. He attended Lavon Baptist Church where he faithfully served for the next 46 years singing in the choir and serving as a Deacon and a greeter. Al loved participating in the church camp trips to Colorado and working with the high school youth along with trips to Branson, MO with friends.
After retirement Al and Perley began a wedding service business with Al performing over 100 marriage ceremonies. The love of his life went to be with the Lord in 2019. He would often say “I will be there soon honey – just send me a rope and pull me up”. Al loved his family but first and foremost he loved his Lord.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Perley Larsen, his parents Noel W. Larsen and Alberta Larsen Courtnay, his brothers Virgil Larsen and Ronald Larsen, his grandson Nick Larsen, and his son-in-law Terry Oliver.
Al is survived by his seven children, David (Ingrid) Larsen, Douglas (DeeDee) Larsen, Julia Larsen Oliver, Samuel (Beth) Billingsley, Michael (Vicky) Billingsley, Daniel Billingsley, and Joel (Candace) Billingsley along with nineteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26th at 10:00 am at Lavon Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Coleman officiating. A visitation and lunch will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations can be made in Al’s name to the Lavon Baptist Church Thrive Ministry for the youth.
