Albert Leon "Pete" Pierce's Obituary
At age 81, Pete Pierce of Dallas, Texas, passed away December 30th after a ten-day struggle with Covid. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Albert ("Al") and Helen Pierce, he grew up in the Dallas area. He spent summers visiting his maternal, fun-loving aunts and cousins in Terra Haute, Indiana. After attending Washington and Lee University, he went back to Dallas and graduated from SMU. In 1963, Pete followed his passion for flying and joined Delta Airlines, where he spent his entire professional flying career until retirement. While finishing at SMU, Pete met his life's love, Lee Ford. Before moving to Atlanta, Ga., to attend flight training school for Delta, they were married. In 1977 Pete established Pierce Properties, where he excelled as one of Dallas and the Park Cities well-known builders of quality and style. His houses will remain as signature homes for years to come. In his leisure time, he was an avid golfer and member of the Dallas Country Club. He enjoyed spending summers in Carmel, CA where he played the golf courses of Pebble Beach. Pete also, in Durango, CO, developed a skill for fly fishing for which he enjoyed with his sons and grandsons. In addition to the Dallas/Park Cities areas, Pete and Lee combined his building/remodeling talents with Lee's decorative skills to the homes they owned in California and Colorado. Pete was a passionate father and grandfather, extending the best of himself in his legacy to his children and grandchildren. The stories they tell about "Pa" will bring joy and laughter for years to come. He is survived by his wife, Lee Pierce, his children, John Pierce, and daughter-in-law Kendall of Rockwall, TX Annie Peek, and son-in-law Steve of Oxford, NC, and Stuart Pierce and fiancé Jessie Walker of Mesquite, TX. His Grandchildren, Winton Welsh, III and fiancé Megan Lyons, Sam Pierce, Stephen Pierce, Kate Pierce and Simon Pierce. His siblings, Nancy Pierce Francis of Amity, AR. and Max Pierce of Los Angeles, CA. His nephew, Don Pierce of Hurst, TX. and many beloved cousins. Pete's mother and father, Helen and Al Pierce, all of his adored aunts from Indiana, and his canine companions, Nick, Nora and Chloe, preceded his passing. He will be eternally loved and missed. Due to Covid, private services for immediate family will be held at Restland, Dallas, Texas. Instead of flowers, please send donations on his behalf to the ASPCA.
