Albert S. "Ted" Taylor's Obituary
TAYLOR, ALBERT SCOTT “TED” 78, passed away on April 9, 2012, at Baybrooke Village Care and Rehabilitation Center of McKinney, Texas. Ted was a native of McAllen and Edinburg, Texas, where he graduated from McAllen High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a business degree and a law degree. Ted enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry, where he started as an adjuster for State Farm, served as co-founder and eventually president of Excalibur Insurance Co., and president of both International Underwriters Insurance Co. and Financial Insurance Company of America. Ted was a voracious reader, loved classical music, gardening, dove hunting and the Dallas Cowboys. He and his wife, LuRuth, raised Yorkies and took in many a stray dog. He is survived by his wife, LuRuth Crawford Taylor; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Christine Taylor, and Andrew and Erin Taylor, and by his daughter and son-in-law, Meredith and Mark Overholt; brother Chesley Taylor and sister, Stuart Massie. He was especially fond of his step-children, Jamie Smith, Renee Senft, Bryan Lancelot and Jacque Stromnes. He had many adored grandchildren, including Anne, Carlie, Cayla and Luke Taylor, Margaret, Calum and Blaire Taylor, and Mary Carole and Cameron Overholt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert William and Alice Stuart Taylor, as well as by his second wife, Jeannette Taylor. We will miss him dearly. A memorial service celebrating Ted’s life will be held on Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, friends may give to such organizations as Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, or the school or charity of their choice.
