Albert Glenn Wamble's Obituary
“ALBERT GLENN WAMBLE was born in Dallas, Texas on February 13, 1930, and died on September 19, 2014. He preferred the name Glenn and was the only son of Albert Clifford and Lautrell (Searcy) Wamble, former cotton farmers from rural Tennessee and Texas (respectively) who moved to Dallas in the early 1920s. He has one sister, Carolyn Frances, who married Karl Southward of Nemo, Texas. Residing primarily in Dallas, Glenn moved from small west Texas oilfield towns where he installed telephone lines, to New York City where he pioneered communication technologies for Bell Laboratories. He was raised in the Church of Christ and has been a member of Lake Highlands Church since 1972. After graduating from Sunset High School in 1947 he served in the Merchant Marines. He joined the Air Force in 1951 receiving an Honorable Discharge in September of 1953. He joined the Naval Reserve in 1964, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in July of 1976. He earned degrees from Abilene Christian University in 1955 and 1983. He worked 37 years for the Southwestern Bell Telephone system. A hard worker from the age of 11, he retired from formal employment in 2006 as a driver for the Richardson Senior Center. He remained active in several community groups and choruses, the Military Officers Association, Telephone Pioneers, Scottish Society, D/FW Tour Guide Association, and Sunset High School and Abilene Christian Alumni Associations. He married Agnes (Aggie) Remelle Tapp in 1954. Glenn is survived by his wife of 60 years, three children and six grandchildren; Paul Craig Wamble and his wife, Helen with his children, Laura Nicole and John Eric and her daughter, Brittany Broughton; Mark Scott Wamble and his wife, Dawn Michelle Finley and their children, Leroy Cash and Lucille Faye; and Lisa Wamble Hite and her husband, Russell Dale and their son, Joshua Dale (Daughter Angel deceased). The visitation for Glenn Wamble will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, September 26, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Glenn Wamble will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at The Lake Highlands Church, 9919 McCree Road, Dallas, TX 75238 The interment for Glenn Wamble will be at Restland Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 27, 2014. In lieu of flowers please make a charitable donation to Abilene Christian University, Lake Highlands Church, or the charity of your choice.” Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
