Alberta "Birdie" Orleine Suggs' Obituary
SUGGS, ALBERTA “BIRDIE” ORLEINE HOFFMAN 87, of Frisco passed away April 1st at Our Nana’s House in Frisco, Texas. Birdie was born in Eagle Lake, Texas on January 3, 1927. She was the daughter of Oswald and Pauline Hoffman. She was a homemaker and loving mother. Alberta was a Christian of Lutheran faith, but attended Preston Trail Community, a non-denominational church, in Frisco. Alberta is survived by her son, Steve Dixon of Frisco; four daughters, Suzanne Stevens and husband Bill of Cedar Hill, Marie Suggs of Red Oak, Hattie Tschirthart and husband, Harold of McQueeney, and Sheila Hargrove and husband Jim of Quittman; nineteen grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Baulkum of Duncanville, and Joyce Ovessney of Dickenson; and two brothers, Sonny Hoffman of Irving and Billy James Hoffman of Weimer; thirty-six great grandchildren and nineteen great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Suggs; father, Oswald Hoffman; mother, Pauline Hoffman; three sisters, Betty Jean Hoffman, Dorothy Seals, and Shirley Sturm; and two grandchildren, Jackie Kinerd and Christopher Zark. Birdie was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a love for life and fought multiple illnesses for many years. She loved unconditionally and was always willing to help any of her family. She was a Republican through and through. Alberta was a spunky German and Irish woman who loved to celebrate the holidays and spend time with her family. She collected dolls and angels, liked to shop, knit and attend her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s ballgames. She spent her spare time working puzzles and word find books, reading magazines and enjoyed playing Skip-Bo in which she rarely lost. She was a wonderful woman and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM, Monday, April 7, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park. Interment will immediately follow. A dinner will be held after the services to celebrate the life of Alberta. All services and dinner will be held at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
