Aleta "Joyce" Cheaney Osborne's Obituary
On April 12, 2021 Aleta “Joyce” Cheaney Osborne, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 92. She was born on May 3, 1928 in Dallas, Texas. Joyce grew up at Reynolds Presbyterian Home in Dallas and graduated from Hillcrest High School. She was married in 1952 to W.T. “Bill” Osborne for 50 years, always considering herself still married to her beloved husband even after his death in 2002. Joyce volunteered at Baylor Hospital of Garland, meals on wheels, was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Garland for 60 years and was involved with the Senior Saints. She had a love of gardening, cooking, baking, loved her animals and of course her family.
She was the youngest of 7 children. Proceeded in death by her siblings, Jessie, L.B., Ann, Robert, Dan, and Nancy. Survived by her beloved sons, Jerry and his wife Libby, David and his partner Susan and her daughter Sophie, Steve and his wife Theresa; grandchildren, Kandi, Brandy and her wife Jenn, Blake and his wife Viviana, and Amie; great-grandchildren Chance, Thaila and Tristin and her beloved dog Annie. Also survived by Deborah Osborne, who she thought of as a daughter, many nieces, and nephews along with other family and friends.
Due to COVID there will be a private graveside service for the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donating to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
