Mrs. Aletta Baker's Obituary
Aletta Baker (July 15, 1925-January 29, 2021) was a caring mother, sister, aunt and friend and passed away at 95 from her fight with Coronavirus and is rejoining her husband in Heaven.
Aletta was born in Mobile, AL to Lorenzo Lemuel and Ora Conklan. Aletta left Mobile to start her family with Ancil Baker Jr. after he returned from World War II, settling in Dallas. Their first son Robert Ancil was born in Dallas. The new family moved to San Antonio before resettling in Oklahoma City. Aletta stayed home to raise her son Robert while welcoming her second son William Eugene. In 1970 the family of four followed job opportunities for Ancil to Tulsa, Oklahoma. She would buy gifts for children in the neighborhood and send newspaper clippings to friends with inspiring stories to which she thought her friends and family could relate. Aletta was a Southern girl through and through, and always spoke kindly in her Deep southern drawl. A faithful Presbyterian, she could always be found at the early service and never missed an opportunity to sit and chat with anyone. She fiercely loved her family and grandson and was a lifelong supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.
Aletta was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dody and brother Sonny. She is survived by her brother John and his wife Ruth of Mobile, Alabama, son Robert and his wife Vicky of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, son William of Austin, TX and grandson Bradley of Mission, KS.
