Alfradia Pleasants Wilson's Obituary
Alfradia Pleasant Wilson passed away on November 18, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. Born in Cuero, Texas on December 16, 1915 to Eddie Pleasants and Mary Lou Tilly. Alfradia was educated in the public schools of Cuero and graduated from Daule High School. She furthered her education at Tillotson College in Austin, Texas (Currently Houston-Tillotson) earning a degree in Elementary Education. An outstanding teacher, Alfradia taught first grade for many years, positively impacting the lives of numerous students in Seguin, Texas. She married fellow educator, Henry Franklin Wilson, Sr. in 1936 who later became the principal of Ball High School in Seguin. Together they made a beautiful life that was blessed with three children, Boyce Marie, Eva Joyce, and Henry Franklin Jr. Alfradia was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a sisterhood which she also shared with her youngest granddaughter, Shelah Flowers Crear. Preceding her in death were her parents; nine siblings, Viz.,Proctor, Frankie, C.D, Eddie, Gladys, Elmo, Ernest, Arthur, Leonard; husband, Henry Franklin Wilson Sr.; daughter, Boyce Marie (Died in Infancy), and her son, Henry Franklin Jr. Alfradia’s legacy of love and life lives through her daughter, Eva Wilson Flowers (Wilbert), her three grandchildren, Brandon Flowers (Marlene), Najeda McNeal (Ricky), and Shelah Crear (Christopher). She was also cherished by her five beautiful great-grandchildren, Hillary, Hannah, and Haylea McNeal and Layla and Christopher Crear. Although illness took her body, it never took her spirit and Alfradia remained as a loving, witty, and intelligent soul whose infectious laugh, kindness, and generosity served as a day-brightener to all she encountered. She also leaves to mourn her demise, her sisters-in-law Veryl Wilson Reid, (centenarian) and Jacqueline Pleasants in addition to nephews Joseph (Gloria) and Robert (Christine) Reid nieces Emma Pleasants Fair, and Diann Pleasants Boyd and great niece, Vaughn Pleasants Young. The funeral service for Alfradia will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
