Alfred F. Gates' Obituary
Mr. Alfred F. Gates, 84, passed away on March 30, 2019, at his residence at Waterford Retirement Home in Mesquite, TX. He was born on February 17, 1935 in Covington, Kentucky to Charles and Agnes Gates. Mr. Gates lived in Dallas then moved to Quitman, TX, where he lived until February 22, 2019. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Eley and her husband, Matthew, grandchildren Nicholas, Tristan and Mason Eley; His son, Scott Gates and his wife, Christine and grandchildren Abigail, Alexis and Charles Scott Gates. Mr. Gates is also survived by his niece, Mary Freeman and husband, Charlie, nephews: Alfred L. Wittenback and wife, Judy, Tommy Wittenback and wife, Nancy, Nieces: Mary Lynn Dunn and husband, Johnny, Belinda Dunn, Debbie Dunn and Nephew: David Burkett plus many other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by many other family members. Mr. Gates was very loved by his family. He was more of a Dad to many of his nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his best friend Charles Graves and wife, Kitty. When growing up in Kentucky, his nickname was Pootsie. He loved his church family at Lake Fork Baptist Church in Alba, TX. Graveside services will be held at Restland, Dallas, TX, on Saturday, May 4th, at 2:00 p.m.Graveside and burial arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-711
