Alfred Massheder's Obituary
Alfred Massheder, age 87 of Richardson, passed away August 17th, 2009 after a brief illness. Born and educated in Yorkshire, England to Alfred Massheder Sr. and Ethel Bradley Massheder, Alfred joined the Royal Air Force in 1941, completed flying training in the U.S. and, after graduation, remained in the U.S. until July 1943 as a flying instructor training American cadets. He returned to England and served in Bomber Command over Europe until 1946. Mr. Massheder piloted Lancaster aircraft as a member of R.A.F. 101 Squadron and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944 by King George VI. Mr. Massheder emigrated to the United States in 1947 and worked as a territory salesman until joining G. E. Wall Co., Inc. in 1953. In 1974, Mr. Massheder received the Distinguished Salesman Award from the Sales and Marketing Executives International. Mr. Massheder was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Frances Burton Massheder, son Michael Ronald Massheder, daughter Martha Ruth Faircloth, brother Ronald Massheder, and grandchildren Thomas Andrew Branscum and Debra Jean Faircloth. He is survived by daughter Vicki Brister and husband Rodney, daughter Barbara Eberhart and husband Eddie, son Alan Massheder and nephew Alfred Massheder and wife Letty. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Saturday, August 22nd at 10:00AM.
