Mr. Alfred Basile Monostra lll's Obituary
Alfred Basil Monostra III (Big Al), age 61, passed away January 31st, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. He was born to Alfred Basil Monostra II and Mary Jane Monostra (nee Ialacci). Born December 6th, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Bellmawr, New Jersey with his 2 sisters, Mary Jane, Rose Ann, and 3 brothers, Michael, Lou (pre-deceased), and Anthony.
After graduating high school, Al attended Cabrini College following his sister, Mary Jane, graduating with BA in Accounting and Business Management. During his time at Cabrini, he was a member of the basketball team and other campus activities. His brother Lou was the third of the Monostra clan to attend the College. The Monostra’s were very well known on the campus and they each made long lasting friendships.
On August 23rd, 1986, Al married Melinda Iuliano. They welcomed their only son, Alfred Basil IV, aka, little Al on September 28, 1988. Al was the proudest father you could ever meet. Big Al was involved in coaching little league baseball and basketball… little Al was very proud that his dad coached his teams for a period of time. Little Al was the center of his dad’s universe; their bond was extraordinary.
Al held different jobs in Accounting, IT, and Business Management. He was last employed as Lead Specialist of Maintenance Reliability at Energy Transfer Partners (Sunoco) in Dallas.
Al was a great man who had firm and unwavering beliefs. He believed that everyone should be treated with respect and tolerance regardless of whether you agreed or disagreed with their beliefs or ideologies.
Love for your family and friends should be unconditional. Help others whenever you can, take pride in your work and strive for greatness in all you do among many other lessons he bestowed to his son, affectionately called Alfie.
Those that knew him could tell how much he cared for them (or disliked them for that matter). He was never shy about expressing himself and kept his feelings visible for all to see. He could light up the room with his smile. He had a contagious laughter, was very affectionate, loving, and loyal to his family and many friends. He had a love for sports, music, trains, and traditions. A family tradition that he passed along to his son, nieces and nephews was yearly summer crabbing trips…his close friends that he grew up with would fly back to Philadelphia for the crabbing weekends in New Jersey. Adding another family tradition, after moving to Texas, he would fly back to Philadelphia to celebrate Christmas with his son and family which we will cherish forever.
Al is survived by his son, Alfred Basil Monostra IV, sisters, May Jane Vecchio (Dean), Rose Ann Bean (Lee, pre-deceased), and his brothers, Michael Monostra (Teresa), Anthony Monostra (Patricia), and many nieces and nephews, Deanna (DeeDee) and Alissa Vecchio, Michael, Megan, and Sara Monostra, Andrew and Jackson Bean, Carly and Amanda Monostra, and Victoria, Felicia, and Alexander Delli Gatti.
Al was larger than life and a pillar of strength and compassion. Though his physical form has left us, he will always remain with us in spirit. We hope you remember him for his love of family and friends and the people he inspired to make their lives better.
We will miss his boisterous laughs, his big bear hugs, and big smile. He has left a void in our hearts that can’t ever be filled. But we will keep him close in our hearts and minds with the many happy and most treasured memories we have of him. Al, we hope you are now resting in peace and that you are reunited with your brother Lou, Mom, Dad, pop pop, and mom mom. We will love you forever.
