Alfred Allen Wilson's Obituary
Alfred Allen Wilson (Al), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Al was born May 2, 1942, in Cunningham, TX to Nixon and Jewel Wilson. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and went on to study at Southern Methodist University and the University of North Texas. He served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years where he received an award for “Best Soldier”.Al married the love of his life, Dorothy Skotak, 52 years ago on September 24, 1966. His most proud moments were the birth of his daughters, Jennifer Lynn and Julie Denise. To his children and grandchildren, he was their hero with the highest of standards always setting a great example for them to follow. He was their advisor and confidant. According to his daughters, he perfected the art of being a father. He knew how to love unconditionally, how to teach forgiveness, and how to lead with understanding and acceptance. He thoroughly enjoyed family time, especially his grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed following his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Al would gladly tell you what he enjoyed most was spending time with Dorothy.Al retired in 2010 from State Farm after 45 years of service as a Commercial Fire Underwriter. He mastered the art of retirement by enjoying each day whether he was relaxing at home, helping with the grandchildren, or hitting the open road. As a strong Christian, he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Even though we feel he left us much too soon, we are comforted in knowing he was specially chosen to spend eternal life with Our Lord Jesus Christ.Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy, daughter Jennifer Vandergriff and husband Jay, daughter Julie Saylor and husband Jamie, grandchildren Blake and Ashley Tucker and Cade and Cash Saylor, sisters-in-law Janette Henry and Lillian Kowalski, brother-in-law Jim Kowalski, several nieces and nephews, and many great friends.Services are January 11th, 1:30 @ St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 S.
