Alice Virginia Clark's Obituary
Alice Virginia Clark was born on May 15, 1930, in Wiergate, Texas, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Annie Bell Harrison. She was the ninth child of twelve children. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School of Beaumont, Texas in 1948. In the same year, she married the love of her life L.C. Clark. Alice worked for Aviation Office of America for many years. Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was an active member of Marsh Lane Baptist Church for over forty years. Her interest included gardening, sewing, cooking and entertaining. She was a hat maker, a dress maker, a member of the Busy Bee Sewing Club, and a phenomenal cook. Another enjoyment in her life was her collection of beautiful things. She touched everyone she met with her decorating expertise. Alice was a risk taker, a life time learner and very adventurous. In the 1960s, she boldly attended Lamar University for a class where she was the only African American student on the roster. Her adventures included taking her family to a Jewish Synagogue for a Passover service, tasting and preparing international cuisines, to name a few. Alice Clark was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, L.C. Clark, parents, siblings; Thomas Harrison, Theodore Harrison, Richard Harrison, Oscar Harrison, Florine Adams, Elmira Streeter, Genia Berry, Clarence Harrison, and Dorothy Comeaux. She leaves to cherish her memory four loving daughters, Gailen Lakey of San Antonio, Texas, Terez Thompson (Harry) of Cedar Hill, Texas, Alice Marie Allen (Albert) of Garland, Texas, and Dollie Bradley (Cedric) of Atlanta, Georgia, two adopted daughters, JoAnn Patterson and Armina Sayani (Dilawar); two sisters, Edna Holefield and Betty Pickens of Houston, Texas; a devoted niece and nephew, Lana and Rapheal Deshotel, Sr., of Beaumont, Texas. She also leaves; five grandchildren Courtney Thompson, Timothy Thompson, Kennedy Bradley, Cedric Bradley, Jr., and Isaiah Lakey; one great-grandson, Armond Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. As we celebrate her life today let us remember her motto, “Living your life is not about age, it’s about attitude”. The funeral service for Alice Clark will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Marsh Lane Baptist Church located at 10716 Marsh Lane, Dallas, TX 75229. Following the service, there will be a procession to Hillcrest Memorial Park for a brief committal service. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home in Staterooms C-D. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
