Mrs. Alice Sue Darden's Obituary
Mrs. Alice Sue Darden was born to the late Arnett and Sylvia Bass in Oakhurst, Texas. She grew up in Willis, Texas, where she attended A.R. Turner High School. She was one of seven children, raised in a loving home that instilled in her the values of faith, strength, and devotion that she carried throughout her life. She later attended Prairie View A&M; University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree, preparing herself for a lifelong career in education and service.
On August 21, 1971, she was united in holy matrimony to Richard Darden. Their union was built on love, faith, commitment, and devotion. This union was blessed with two beautiful children, Kimetra Thomas (Charles Thomas) and Dameion Darden. Together, they built a strong and loving family grounded in faith and unconditional love.
Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and faithful servant of God. She dedicated over 35 years of her life to shaping young minds as an educator in the Dallas Independent School District. Teaching was not just her profession; it was her calling. She believed deeply in the potential of every child and worked tirelessly to encourage, uplift, and inspire her students. Her influence extends far beyond the classroom and continues through the many lives she impacted.
She truly had a heart of gold and deeply loved her family. Alice cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and took great pride in being present, supportive, and prayerful in their lives. Her kindness, patience, and nurturing spirit were gifts to everyone who knew her.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Alice was a faithful member of Christian Chapel Temple of Faith, where she devoted many years to serving in children’s church. She had a special heart for youth ministry and poured herself into guiding young people toward Christ, ensuring they knew they were loved, valued, and capable of greatness.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Richard Darden; her children, Kimetra Thomas (Charles Thomas) and Dameion Darden; her grandchildren, Charles Thomas II (Megan), Chandler Thomas, and Chase Thomas; her great-granddaughter, Caelani Thomas; her siblings, Abner Bass (Ruby) and Robert Bass (Joyce); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, former students, and dear friends who will forever treasure her wisdom, compassion, and gentle spirit.
At home, Alice was the heart of her family. Her home was a place of comfort, prayer, and unconditional love. She carried herself with quiet strength and grace, teaching by example the importance of faith, perseverance, kindness, and compassion. Her prayers covered her family daily, and her legacy of faith will continue for generations.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing she is at peace and resting in the presence of the Lord.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
