Alice Gertrude Falconer's Obituary
Alice Gertrude Wilkinson Falconer of Plano, TX, 81, passed away September 9, 2014 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Alice’s suffering is over and she now basks in the glory of the Lord in heaven. Alice was born in Shamrock, TX on June 30, 1933. Her family moved to Alabama shortly after her birth, but they returned to West Texas in 1941. Alice graduated from Shamrock High School in 1952 as class valedictorian. She attended college at West Texas State in Canyon, TX where she graduated with a Business Education degree. Alice met her beloved husband of 56 years, Theodore Wade Falconer, while at West Texas State and they were married shortly after her graduation in 1956. Alice and Ted lived in Austin for two years until they moved to Dallas in 1958 where Alice worked at Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company until 1961. Alice spent the next several years as a full-time mom, caring for their two children. She started teaching kindergarten at Chapel Hill United Methodist Preschool in Farmers Branch, TX in 1968 were she worked for 18 years. Ted and Alice moved to Plano in 1986 where Alice worked at Christ United Methodist Children’s Discovery Center until her retirement in 1998. She continued to substitute at Christ CDC for several years while also spending time with her family, volunteering at their church home of more than 50 years, Chapel Hill United Methodist, and traveling. Alice was passionate about cooking, was an illustrious baker and enjoyed gardening with Ted. She began to experience the devastating, progressive effects of Alzheimer’s in the early 2000’s. Ted cared for Alice throughout her ordeal until his death in 2013. Alice lived for the last year and a half at Emeritus Memory Care Center in Plano. Alice is survived by her two children, Sharon Denise (Falconer) Womboldt and her husband, Marc, of Frisco, TX and Kevin Wade Falconer and his wife, Susan, of Carrollton, TX; her six grandchildren, Michelle (Falconer) Bebout and husband, Shane, of Odessa, TX, Melinda Falconer of Carrollton, TX, Megan Falconer of Lubbock, TX, Joshua Womboldt of Astoria, OR, Eric Womboldt of College Station, TX, and Rachel Womboldt of Frisco, TX; her sister, Alma Carver of Garland, TX, her brother and sister-in-law William Guy and Laura Wilkinson of Double Oak, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Falconer; her parents, Duke Alaric and Pollyann Gertrude Wilkinson, and her bother-in-law, Wayne Carver. The visitation for Alice Falconer will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Alice Falconer will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238.
