Alice Faye Kennedy Ivie passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her home in Athens, Texas. She went peacefully to her heavenly home, surrounded by her loving family.
One can only imagine what the reunion was like as she entered through those pearly gates. Being met by our Heavenly Father, saying “well done my good and faithful servant”. Then being reunited with family who had gone before. But we know who Alice most wanted to see, she wanted to see the love of her life. Her precious husband Don Ivie.
We rejoice in knowing they are walking on those streets of gold, hand in hand.

Alice was a faithful member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Garland, Texas
Alice and Don were dedicated to the ministry of Joseph’s House. They were always available when needed. It was something they were both passionate about. Joseph’s House is a ministry to reach out to those who are in need spiritually, emotionally, and physically. It is a safe place that sits on the property of Living Hope Baptist Church. They considered it a blessing to help others.
Alice worked for Mesquite ISD for many years as a Special Education Paraprofessional. During the summer she provided childcare in her home.
Alice spent her life just simply loving people. She never met a stranger. She was lovingly referred to as the “Card Lady”. She made it her mission to let people know they were loved and being thought of. She was a volunteer at her church. She worked in the nursery for many years. She also volunteered at Parkland Hospital NICU unit, where she spent hours rocking babies that had no family to love them. She & Don opened there home as Foster Parents. Fostering countless children who to this day, still lovingly called her “Momma”.
Alice was known to have a “green thumb”. She could grow anything. She loved beautiful things. She loved the colors Lavender & Pink. She was rarely seen without makeup. Her nails were always manicured and polished. Her hair was always perfectly coiffed. She truly had style and grace. We did not know when the Lord would call her home, but we knew it would not be on a Friday. She had a standing hair appointment every Friday without fail.
There are many things that will remind us of her. Such things as White Shoulders, her absolute favorite perfume. Coca Cola in a bottle, her favorite drink.
These are just a few things that made up the fabric that was the precious life of Alice Ivie. But these will not be what she is truly remembered for. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, her compassion for others and how deeply she loved her family and friends. Her love was unconditional. She loved others like Christ loves us.
