Alice G. Threadgill's Obituary
Alice Threadgill was born Feb. 12, 1916 to William Riley and Sara Greenway in Paterson, NJ and passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2014 at the age of 98. Alice Threadgill lived her life with a calm, quiet demeanor and was a loving, steady presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Alice grew up in Clifton, NJ and earned a teaching degree from William Paterson University. Alice’s wisdom, wit and intellect made her a fascinating woman to know and love, always sharing stories about interesting things that happened in her life including meeting Amelia Earhart, watching the parade in New York City when Charles Lindbergh returned from his historic first flight to Paris, going to work with her father who was a CPA with offices at 225 Broadway in NY City, riding in their first car, listening to one of the first radios and eating the most delicious new ice cream that was created in the early 1920s and later became known as Haagen Dazs. Alice moved to Dallas in 1938 with her husband, Milton Threadgill, who was a Merchandise Manager for A. Harris & Company. They were married for 66 years until his death in 2004. Alice was an active member of Northwood Club, Dallas Women’s Club, Park City Club and Highland Park United Methodist Church. Survived by her son, Milton R. Threadgill (Connie) of College Station; daughter, Carolyn (Dr. James M. Motes Jr.), of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Paul (Rachael) Threadgill of Conroe, Monique Threadgill (James Starr) of Austin, James Motes III (Page) of Austin, Andrew Motes (Marci) of Austin, Robert Motes (Julie) of Westin, FL; William Motes (Jennifer) of Providence, RI; step grandchildren, Melinda Brown and Kevin Newsom of College Station, David Newsom (Sarah) of Georgetown; and 13 great grandchildren. The visitation for Alice Threadgill be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Restland Funeral Home. The memorial service for Alice Threadgill will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 12:00pm at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
