Allen Louis Blitz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2024, at the age of 85 in Plano, Texas. Born on October 30, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Sidney Blitz and Ida Leifer.
Allen’s life was marked by passion, service, and love. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, a field that fueled his curiosity and determination. His love for cycling brought him immense joy, and he often explored the scenic roads of Texas enjoying the beautiful landscape and outdoors.
Beyond his love for cycling, Allen was an avid traveler. He and his wife, Olga Rivera, shared countless adventures together, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Their journeys took them to far-flung destinations, where they immersed themselves in different cultures and marveled at the beauty of the world.
Allen’s heart also belonged to basketball. A loyal fan, he cheered for his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm. His passion for the game was infectious, and he often shared spirited discussions with fellow fans.
But Allen’s kindness extended beyond sports and hobbies. He volunteered at The Storehouse, dedicating his time to helping those in need. His commitment to community service left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
As a history buff, Allen reveled in stories of the past. He could recount historical events with vivid detail, making history come alive for those around him. His knowledge and passion inspired others to appreciate the richness of our shared human experience.
Family was at the center of Allen’s world. He cherished moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Whether it was a lively family dinner, a game night, or a simple conversation, Allen’s love and warmth enveloped those he held dear.
Before his civilian life, Allen served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959, achieving the rank of Airman 2nd class. His military service took him to Germany and Japan, where he contributed to the defense of freedom.
Allen is survived by his devoted wife, Olga Blitz, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. His brother, Sandy Blitz (wife Therese), and sister, Beverly Rosado (husband Ernest), share cherished memories of their childhood together. His son, Bryan (wife Alie), and daughter, Lisa (husband Joe), carry forward his legacy of love and compassion.
Seven grandchildren—Madison, Connor, Abigail, Oliver, Anthony, Colin, and Olivia—will forever remember their grandfather’s wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. And in the arms of his great-granddaughter, Lucille, Allen’s spirit lives on, a beacon of warmth and connection.
