Allen Theodore Herman's Obituary
Allen T Herman, age 79, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD and Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on July 18, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas. Allen Theodore Herman was born in 1936 to Theodore and Alda (Schmidt) Herman on a farm near Inwood, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1958. Allen was employed by the Small Business Administration from 1958 – 1988 in Sioux Falls, SD and Phoenix, AZ. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kars on June 5, 1961 in Sioux Falls, SD at the First Reformed Church. They were married until her passing on February 7, 1997. On February 28, 1998 Allen and Judith Anderson were united in marriage in Phoenix, AZ at Bethany Bible Church. Allen will be remembered by his wife Judith Herman, children Cassandra (Mike) Specht, Clark, WY, Ruth Herman, Albuquerque, NM, and Laura (Corey) Suttles, Cedar Rapids, IA, step-children Julie (Jim) Black, Robert (Francis) Anderson, Debra (Kyle) Beaird, 7 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Robert, James, and Roger, and first wife Mary Ann. He served his country for 8 years in the Air National Guard. Allen was an avid NASCAR and Cornhusker fan, enjoyed collecting eagles, and one of his favorite Bible verses was Isaiah 40:31. He was active in local Kiwanis and Rotary clubs and served the Lord as a deacon, elder and Bible study leader in various churches. A private family service was held at Chapel Creek Fellowship in Fort Worth on July 19th. Interment and graveside memorial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local hospice or Gideons International. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
