Allie D. Lukin's Obituary
Allie Dee (Leeth) Lukin, aged 95, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Plano, Texas. Allie was born on September 17, 1930, in Hico Texas, to Fred and Eileen Segrist Leeth, minutes after her twin sister lla. While she moved away as a child, Hico and memories of her grandparents and extended family there remained dear to Allie throughout her life. Although her husband Keith's career moves took them to homes in Dallas, Kansas City, Gaithersburg (MD), Aurora (CO) and back to the Dallas area, Allie always stayed a Texan gal at heart.
She was proud of the four children she raised, and grateful for over 71 years of marriage to Edward Keith Lukin. They met when seated alphabetically in Economics class at the University of Texas. She was a proud alumna of Adamson High in Oak Cliff, TX and received a BA in English from UT Austin. Keith and Allie loved spending time at their vacation retreat in Arkansas and also travelling further afield. Symphony tickets, El Fenix dinners and ice cream were among Allie's favorite treats, and chocolate was a lifelong addiction.
Identical twins Allie and lla shared a lifetime of connection, from their earliest days when their dad nicknamed them Pete and Repeat (one twin would run in and share news or a story and moments later, the other twin would appear and repeat the story); from their infancy in matching clothes through to frequent visits at the seniors' residence. Allie had fond memories of their time as switchboard operators in Dallas in the late 1940's, connecting the east and west coasts; and of volunteering at the Dallas Arboretum.
Allie loved reading biographies and history, particularly on the US presidency. Her wide reading served her well when watching Jeopardy even into her 90's. She and Keith and sister lla were avid birders, traveling through most of the fifty states and to Central America and Europe, not to mention frequent roadside stops locally, with binoculars always at the ready.
She is preceded in death by husband Keith Lukin, parents Fred and Eileen Leeth and in-laws Gertrude and Abraham Lukin, sisters- and brothers-in-law and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and lifelong friends.
She is survived by sister Ila Post, son David Lukin (and wife Terri), son Mark Lukin (and wife Dacia), daughter Anne Lukin, son Richard Lukin; grandchildren Aaron (Azie), Nicole, Leo (Emma), and Erin (Jesse); great-grandchildren Taylor, Sullivan and Savanah; as well as 4 nieces, 4 nephews and their spouses and children.
Many thanks to son Richard, primary care provider for many years, and to the incredibly kind staff at Altius House and Visiting Angels. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to The Stewpot (https://thestewpot.org/) or the Nature Conservancy (https://www.nature.org/en-us/).
