Alma June Johnston joined her family and friends in heaven on February 28, 2019; she was born December 11, 1921 in Dallas, Texas and passed away February 28, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.June was preceded in death by Clyde Carroll Johnston, Jr., Husband, AP Dowlen, Father and Alma Grissom Dowlen, Mother.June is survived by Jay Johnston, son and wife Jacqueline Johnston of Dallas, TX. Don Johnston, son of Austin, TX, Jordan Johnston, grandson and wife Julie Johnston of Austin, TX, Jedd Johnston, grandson and wife Jacky Johnston of Austin, TX and Jake Johnston grandson, wife Jodi Johnston of Houston, TX., Jack McQuary grandson and wife Jill McQuary of Pocatello, Idaho and Jared Cole McQuary grandson of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Her great grandchildren are Kathryn Pearl and William River Johnston of Austin, TX, Emma Smotek and Ellery June Johnston of Houston, TX. and Broc McQuary and Chase McQuary of Pocatello, Idaho.June was a lifelong Oak Cliff resident who attended Rosemont Elementary, Greiner Jr. High and graduated Sunset High School where she was a member of Saddle & Bridle Club, Stamped Staff, Gymboree, Good Scholarship Club and a Band Majorette. During high school she met and later married her late husband of 71 years Clyde, Johnston, Jr. June was a strong Christian woman and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother in-law. She was active in the early years with Women’s Jr. League, she loved to play tennis, play bridge, and enjoyed book club. June loved to travel and especially loved going and watching her grandsons play sports-baseball and football; she also was an avid sports fan of Texas Rangers baseball. June was a dedicated member of Kessler Park United Methodist Church, servicing faithfully in various capacities for over 70 years.Internment Service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 10:30 am at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery followed by the Memorial Service at 12:30 pm at Kessler Park United Methodist Church, 1215 Turner Avenue, Dallas, TX 75208.In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:Kessler Park United Methodist Church, 1215 Turner Avenue, Dallas, TX. 75208Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Alma June Johnston have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
