Alra Edmond Reeves' Obituary
Reeves, Alra Edmond 1931 – 2013 Alra Edmond Reeves, age 81, of Carrollton, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2013. He was born in Picayune, Mississippi on October 19, 1931 and was raised in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Alra attended Louisiana College where he met and married Kathryn, his wife of 62 years. He joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. His military training in radar technology helped start his civilian career when he was hired by Texas Instruments and moved to Dallas after his discharge from the USAF in 1957. Alra led a life of joyful service to others. He generously gave his time and talents to his church as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Royal Ambassador leader, and choir member and through leadership as a layman. He also served through other organizations such as the Texas Baptist Men, Victim Relief and Family Counseling services associated with Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard O. Reeves and Iris Reeves, brother Howard Reeves and son Thom Reeves. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, son Alra Reeves II and his wife, Dori, of Aubrey, Texas, son Jeffry Reeves and his wife Susan of Carrollton, and his son Thom’s wife, Kathy Reeves, of Carrollton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Douglas, Kimberly and husband Robert, Leroy, Nick, Caitlyn, Shayna, and Dovi and by his great granddaughter, Samantha.
