Alton Rae Corbet's Obituary
Alton Rae Corbet, 91, born December 2, 1925, in Miller Grove, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2017, in Dallas, Texas.After graduating from Miller Grove High School, Alton moved to Dallas. He met his lovely wife Lora Nell on a trolley car in downtown Dallas which he has often described as the luckiest day of his life.Alton served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 through 1952 as Yeoman 2nd Class. Alton proudly served in both WWII and the Korean War. He later purchased Central Commissary Company where he was the owner for 38 years.Alton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.In his spare time, Alton was an avid rancher and shared his love of the farm with his wonderful family. He was also a member of the Texas Cattleman’s Association.Alton was preceded in death by his parents, John Bryant Corbet and Laura Lorena McRae; siblings: J.B. Corbet, Dan Corbet, Mildred Corbet and Nell Marie Miller.Alton is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lora Nell Corbet; daughter, Linda Hay, and husband, Richard of Prosper, Texas and granddaughter, Jennifer Hay; son, John Corbet and wife Deborah of Carrollton, Texas and granddaughters, Laura Corbet and Ashley Corbet as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Restland Wildwood Chapel at 3:00 pm with viewing one hour prior. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the Restland Events Center immediately following the services.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Miller Grove Perpetual Care Fund in honor of Alton Corbet.
