Alvis Wilton Smith's Obituary
Alvis Wilton Smith Jr. was born on March 13, 1931, in Hope, Arkansas and passed away on March 8, 2017, on Rockwall, Texas. Alvis is preceded in death by his sister, Elnora Goldman; mother, Ophelia Gilbert; step-father, Henry Gilbert and father, Alvis Wilton Smith, Senior. Alvis has survived by his loving wife Georgia; four children, Vicki Oughton, Patricia Runnels, Mitchell Smith and Donna Maggio and their spouses; twelve grandchildren and two great –grandchildren; sisters, Janet Jones, Linda Rosenbaum; brothers, Henry Dale Gilbert and Billy Joe Gilbert of Arkansas. “Al” worked as an automobile mechanic most of his life, including his time he spent serving as an Army sergeant during the Korean War. He was a loving father, and husband of sixty-two years. The family will receive friends on hour prior to service on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
