Amy Elizabeth Dunn's Obituary
Amy Elizabeth Dunn, 93 yrs. old, passed away 6/4/2018. Born & raised in Ossining, N.Y. after high school Amy graduated from Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital School of Nursing, NYC in 1945. She was a member of the U. S. Cadet Nurse Corp, serving at Halloran Hospital on Staten Island, caring for transferred wounded (WWII) soldiers with nerve damage. In 1952, she married Theodore C. Dunn. Four years later they moved to Geneva, IL., where for the next 20 years they raised their children. In 1976, Amy & Ted moved to Richardson, TX. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution for over 60 years, serving as Regent in both Illinois and Texas. Other activities included Choir, leading cub scouts & girl scouts, serving as a precinct worker and presiding as an election judge. She participated in Newcomer’s club, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and their Supper Club, and along with Ted, had led her neighborhood Crime Watch. Preceded in death by Ted, Amy is survived by her son, William Dunn, daughter, Marjorie Mershawn, grandchildren, Georgia Underhill, Aaron Dunn, David Mershawn, Shannon Mershawn and two great granddaughters, Chloe and Amy, as well as niece and nephew, Martha Dunn & Thomas Dunn. Her ashes will be buried beside her husband’s in Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY.A memorial service in the Richardson area is currently being planned for the near future.In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Guiding Eyes for the Blind (https://www.guidingeyes.org/)Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Amy Elizabeth Holden Dunn have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
