Amy Lynn Lindsly's Obituary
Amy Maloy Lindsly, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at her home in Dallas at the age of 88 years.
Amy was born at Methodist Hospital in Dallas on Nov.16, 1933, to Theodore “Ted” Haskell Maloy and Dorothy Fluck Maloy. Ted was a newspaper man, and they moved frequently until returning to Dallas when Amy was in fourth grade. Amy graduated from Highland Park High School in 1951. She attended Mary Baldwin University at Staunton, Va., before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., for her sophomore year. At O.U., she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree.
On Dec. 27, 1955, she wed Richard “Dick” Rand Lindsly, whom she had met on a blind date while at O.U. She taught at Del City High School in Del City, Okla., for one year until Dick graduated from college. They moved several times over the next 12 years to locations including Honolulu, Hawaii; Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Big Spring, Texas, as Dick pursued first military service and then a career in the petroleum industry. They settled in Dallas in 1968. Amy was active in church choirs, Girl Scouts and the PTA and worked part-time for the Dallas Convention Bureau and as a proofreader for the American Heart Association.
In their retirement, Amy and Dick traveled extensively throughout the world. In 2011, they moved to
the Overlook at CC Young Senior Living in Dallas, where they made many friends.
They remained happily married for 66 years until Dick’s death on May 9, 2022. Amy was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Dana Lynn Lindsly. Survivors include son Rand (Carol Moses) Lindsly, Yosemite, Calif.; daughters Dyan Maramba, Allen, Texas, and Suzanne (Chris) Fletcher, Fairview, Tenn.; brother- and sister-in-law Robert (Roberta) Lindsly, Bartlesville, Okla.; grandsons Lupe Muratalla, Jr., and Luis (Dajana) Muratalla; granddaughters Abby (Ross) Bolden and Carly Fletcher; and great-granddaughters Rebecca, Elena and Emilia Muratalla.
Amy was known for having ESP-like foresight. She was a witty conversationalist and loved discussing and reciting literature, especially the works of Dorothy Parker, Damon Runyon and Ogden Nash. She will be greatly missed.
