Anabel Thompson's Obituary
Ann was born September 4, 1929 in Sinton, Texas and passed away April 29, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Texas. While a student she married John Gerald Thompson on August 27, 1949. She received her B.A. in English Literature from UT Dallas in 1978. Ann liked to study philosophy and science, and to research family genealogy. She and Jerry enjoyed operas and concerts, sail boating on Lake Texoma, world travel and vacations in Kauai. She was a member of First Unitarian Church Dallas for 62 years and served as president of the Women’s Alliance. Also, P.T.A. president at Arthur Kramer Elementary School. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ann had Parkinson’s for 10 years and died from its complications. She was preceded in death by her parents, William W. Wheeler and Jennie Benson Sharp, brother William W. Sharp Jr. and sister Rosalyn Hudson. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jerry, son John Stuart Thompson and daughter Mary Amo, six grandchildren: Oliver Schlaffer and wife Yumiko, Gabriel Schlaffer and wife Machiko, Melody Staton and husband Alex, Rosalyn Amo, Jeremy Amo and James Amo; five great grandchildren; and sisters, Marianne Graswich and Jeanine Krumnow; and brother-in-law, Gene Thompson and wife Mary. Funeral Services for Ann will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park, garden of Ascension. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
