Anca Constantinescu's Obituary
Anca Constantinescu peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2019, surrounded by family at her home in Bonne Terre, MO. She and her beloved husband of 61 years, Serban, had been long-time residents of the Dallas area. Anca was born in Romania on August 11, 1931. She received a chemistry degree in Romania, and subsequently a PhD in biochemistry. She worked in endocrinology research at the Institute of Endocrinology in Bucharest, and in radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, were she was a member of the faculty. She was coauthor of more than 60 articles in the areas of her interest and of a textbook in thyroid hormones biochemistry. She was the recipient of the prestigious Romanian Academy Award. In her professional life and in her family and social life, she was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, despite the oppressive atheistic Marxist-Leninist environment of Communist Romania, she came to know the Lord at age 18. Because of her faith, she lost her job on the Faculty of the Medical School in Bucharest and on several occasions was in danger of losing her liberty. Along with her husband Serban and her lifetime friend, Lydia, she was blessed to be part of the Believers Chapel congregation in Dallas and in the last few years of Centenary Methodist Church in Bonne Terre, MO. Most satisfying for her was hosting other believers for home Bible Studies for many years and serving on the Media Ministry at Believers Chapel. She loved her children and grandchildren, to whom she showed a sacrificial, devoted and extraordinary love. Bringing glory to God was her main goal and desire. Anca is survived by daughter Ileana Denny (Steve); sons Michael (Claudia) and Cris (Irene); grandsons Matei (Celena), Andrei (Rachel) and Philip and granddaughters Naomi (Stephen) and Simona and by 15 great grandchildren. Anca was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Serban, by her parents Meletina and Ion Gheorghe and by her sister Floria. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Believers Chapel, 6420 Churchill Way, Dallas, Texas, 75230 or to Centenary Methodist Church, 20 Park Ave, Bonne Terre, MO 63628. A Memorial Service for Anca will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. at Believers Chapel, 6420 Churchill Way, Dallas, Texas 75230
