Aniela Teresa Morgan's Obituary
Aniela “Angie” Theresa Gorynska Morgan left us at the age of 85
on August 11, 2023, in Carrollton, TX. She is survived by her
husband, Stanley Morgan, children Michael Morgan (Paige) and
Christine Morgan (Kerry), and grandsons Kyle Morgan (Emilie)
and Eric Morgan.
Aniela Theresa Gorynska Morgan was born on March 27, 1938 in
Maniewicze, Poland to Stanislaw Gorynski and Julianna
Kowalcziuk Gorynska. Aniela’s father fought in WW1 and WW2
with the Polish army and also printed an anti-communist
newspaper. While her father was away fighting in WW2, he left
Aniela’s two older brothers, Stanislaw Jr. and Eugene to help their
Mother and Aniela. Her oldest brother Stanislaw Jr. was killed
during WW2. Most of Aniela’s early childhood was spent hiding
from the Nazis or the Russian communists, until 1943 when the
Nazis came to southeast Poland and took many people, including
Aniela’s family, to Germany to be slave laborers on work farms.
After the war Aniela and her family lived in a displaced persons
camp in Hamburg, Germany. In 1949, Catholic Welfare Charities
sponsored Aniela’s family to come to America, first to South
Dakota and then to Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Aniela attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lincoln, NE and
graduated in 1961 with her Registered Nurse degree. She married
Stanley S. Morgan in Nebraska City, Nebraska on August 19,
1961. Due to Stanley’s work as an oil exploration geologist they
first moved to Jackson, MS where her children Christine and
Michael were born. They then moved to New Orleans, LA, and
finally to Tyler, TX where they lived for over 40 years.
Aniela’s parents and the hardships of her childhood gave her an
undoubting faith in God, a strong work ethic and fighting spirit
which lasted her lifetime. Aniela always loved helping others as
demonstrated through her nursing career at St. Elizabeth’s
Hospital in Lincoln, NE, St Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson MS, and
at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, TX. Aniela also
volunteered with each of the church parishes she belonged to as
well as by praising God with her beautiful voice in several church
choirs.
Aniela loved to travel with Stanley after she retired and especially
enjoyed spending time with her grandsons Kyle and Eric in
Colorado. She enjoyed the beautiful Colorado wildflowers while
hiking with Stanley as well as her own beautiful garden at her
home in Tyler.
Even after to moving to an assisted living facility in Carrollton, TX
Aniela was always trying to help others around her feel more
comfortable or assist staff with simple tasks like getting ready for
dinner. Aniela truly loved her family and others and will be
greatly missed.
The family suggests memorial donations go to Dementia Society
of America or Catholic Welfare Charities.
