Anita Rhea Christensen's Obituary
On October 12, 2020, Anita Christensen passed away peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was the mother of four children who loved her very much.
Anita was born on November 7, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to her parents: Norman and Lillian (McAdams) Hoylman. She was known to be a talented and gifted seamstress. Although she loved sewing clothes for her children, her passion for sewing intensified when she was asked to design and create hundreds of ballet costumes for the Dallas Civic Ballet and the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet. She also won numerous prizes at the State Fair of Texas for entries in quilting and crocheted purses. She was a bookkeeper for Sysco North Texas for 30 years and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Anita was preceded in death by her sister, Wana Bradshaw
She is survived by her daughters: Diane Christensen, Debbie DeLay and Jan Ardis; son, Richard Christensen; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
When Anita's children were young, she taught them the love of nature through gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. Many weekends were spent at the lake with the excitement of fishing, swimming and water skiing.
As her children, we find it difficult to find the right words to pay tribute to a woman who raised and cared for us for so many years through good times and the difficult times. What we can say is "Thank you." "Thank you for teaching us resilience and perseverance." "Thank you for teaching us to be strong, independent, passionate and compassionate individuals." "Thank you for your love." We will miss you forever though we hold you deeply in our hearts.
