Anita Ruth Sutherland's Obituary
Anita Ruth Sutherland of Dallas, Texas born on July 12, 1926, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mae Farrow, husband, Dr. John Paul Sutherland and sister Dorothy Dickerson. Anita is survived by her children, Sandy Douglas and husband Rich from Duncanville, Karen Sams and husband David from Sun City, and John P. Sutherland III and his wife Kaki from Houston; grandchildren Ashley Whitworth and husband Lance of Dallas, Justin Douglas of Ft. Worth, Brittany Aregood and husband, John of New Braunfels, Michelle Kyle and husband Corey of Ft.Worth, Josh Sams and Brittani of Denton, Megan Carey and husband Mike of Cork, Ireland and Robert Sutherland of Ft. Worth; great grandchildren, June Sams, Reese Aregood and Madison Kyle. Anita graduated from Sunset High School in 1943, and received two Bachelors Degrees from Baylor University in 1947 in both Home Economics and Elementary Education. She was also a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and a Baylor Beauty her senior year. Anita met her husband John Paul Jr. at Cliff Temple Baptist Church and they married on July 27, 1947. They were married for 55 years before John’s death in 2002. Anita loved teaching and taught second and third grades for 15 years at Ruby Young Elementary School in De Soto, Texas. Anita was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church for over 80 years. She loved her Lord, family and friends. The family is grateful for the care given by the staff at Grace Presbyterian Village where Anita resided for the past 9 years. A Memorial Service celebrating Anita’s life will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Grace Presbyterian Village, 550 E Ann Arbor Ave, Dallas, TX. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
