Ann Van Winkle Hooker's Obituary
Ann Van Winkle Hooker, 92, went to be with her Lord on January 19, 2025.
Ann was born March 19, 1932 in Dallas, Texas, the only child of Andrew Parsons Van Winkle and Jessie Magouirk Van Winkle, and was a lifelong Dallas resident. Ann was a 1949 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a 1953 graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she earned a BBA degree with honors.
She was an active alum of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, past Chairman of the Dallas United Cerebral Palsy Association, a member of the Book and Drama Review, Heritage Club, American and Texas Hereford Associations, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a real estate broker with Brooks Real Estate, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Dallas.
Ann learned to fly in 1970 and enjoyed flying with her husband and family. She loved to travel the world, including a memorable visit to China in 1986.
Her proudest role was that of loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband Voyne H. "Jack" Hooker, to whom she was married an amazing 75 years, a son Van Jackson (Georgie) Hooker and daughter Julie Ann Hooker, granddaughters Brittany Ann (Joshua) Martin and Amber Lyndie Hullett, and seven great-grandchildren, Austin Rayne Grider, Josiah Jackson Giles, Emma Grace Giles, Abigail Rose Giles, Waylon Wayne Williams, Tyler Lynn Williams and Lilah Faith Williams.
Ann requested no services. There will be a private gathering at a later date to celebrate Ann's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial bequest to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of your choice.
