Ann Tate Lewis' Obituary
Ann Tate Lewis of Dallas, Texas, passed away on May 27, 2009. Ann was born on February 16, 1918 in Little Rock, Ar., and grew up in Celina, Texas. She worked as a physician’s secretary in the early part of her life and then worked as a secretary for the City of Dallas for well over thirty years until she retired. Ann married Jack E. Lewis on August 19, 1944. Jack adored Ann and he also worked for the City of Dallas. Jack and Ann rode together to City Hall every working day for over thirty years. They resided in a home they built in North Dallas in the 1950s. She lost her beloved husband in March, five years ago. She was also preceded in death by her brother Joe Lee Tate of Sherman, her mother, Ruth Ownsby-Tate-Norwood, from Celina and her father, George Tate, who died many years before. She had no children. She is survived by one nephew of Sherman, Robert J. Tate, one great-nephew, Robert Timothy Tate and his wife, Quyen Vu Tate, both of Plano, Texas, one great-great niece, Michelle Catherine Tate, one great-great nephew, Daniel Robert Tate, one great niece, Claire Tate Rehmet and her husband, Christopher Beall Rehmet, both of Sherman, Texas, one great-great nephew Robert Tate Rehmet, one great-great niece Houston Beall Rehmet. She is also survived by her first cousin Ben Choate of Celina, Texas, and his wife Charlene Choate, and first cousin J.C. Ownsby of Celina, Texas. She was blessed with many friends throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling with Jack, bird watching, painting, cooking, and dining with her family and close friends. Services will be held at Restland in the Memorial Chapel in Dallas, Monday, June 1, 2009 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, any contributions may be made to your favorite church or charity.
