Ann Bonebrake Lord's Obituary
Alpha Ann Bonebrake Lord of Dallas, Texas passed from this life to her home in heaven with her Lord on November 9, 2018, at the age of 92.Ann was born on March 9, 1926, to Arthur and Laura Bonebrake in Newell, Iowa. She grew up in Newell and Diagonal, Iowa, and accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl. After high school, she attended and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois where she met Jack Lord of Dallas, Texas. She then earned her BA in Music from the University of Dubuque (in Iowa) and went to be a missionary and music teacher with native Indians in northern Minnesota. On June 24, 1951, she married Jack in Diagonal, Iowa, thereafter going with him to Texas to be his partner in work for the Lord.In Texas, she became a pastor’s wife and homemaker, faithfully serving alongside Jack at Prairie Creek Baptist Church (Dallas, Texas) and Richwood Baptist Church (Richwood, Texas), and then a professor’s wife when he became a seminary and college professor. Ann was an incredibly gifted musician who played numerous instruments in various bands, sang professionally on the radio, taught piano, and sang and played the piano (and occasionally the organ) in churches.She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was full of love, funny, incredibly intelligent, and determined, with a song, a smile, and a twinkle in her eye, both to family and to all who knew her. Full of grace, warmth, and kindness, to everyone she was a living example of a well-lived life of faith in Christ and of service and love to family and friends.Ann was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lord; grandson, Marc Lord; brothers, Cullen, Arden, and Boyd Bonebrake; and sister, Buena Bonebrake. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Jack Lord of Dallas, Texas; sister, Jean Friesen of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sons, David Lord (and wife Sharyl) and Donald Lord (and wife Dee); daughters, Janet Lord-Rose and Carolyn Lord Allen; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. She loved them dearly and prayed for them all.The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, November 16, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. Her memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Restland Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the cemetery there.
