Ann M McVey's Obituary
Ann Mathews McVey passed away on January 20, 2023. She was 96 years old. She
took her last breath with daughter Barbara holding her hand.
She was born August 8,1926 to HB and Goldie Mae Mathews in Sherman, Texas.
She graduated from Sherman High School class of 1944. She joined the US Cadet
Nursing Corps and trained at Baylor. She had a lengthy career in nursing, first in
the ER and later in home health.
On January 13,1947 she married Richard McVey. They were married until his
death in 1982. They had 5 children.
Ann belonged to the Order of Eastern Star. She served as worthy matron in 1982.
She enjoyed a lifelong passion for reading and games. She was a gifted gardener
growing fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Ann chose two bible verses to share.
Psalms 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help
cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
Mathews 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Ann was an optimistic happy person throughout her life. She was always smiling.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother Bill, husband Richard and
sons Craig and Bobby.
Ann is survived by daughters Patricia and Barbara (husband Alan), son Steven,
grandson Len Milke (wife Christine) and great granddaughter Eryn Milke.
The family thanks Interim Healthcare, especially Kelly and Melinda and all the
staff at The Cove at Waterview. Your care made Ann feel safe and loved.
