Ann Mildred Parker Corley's Obituary
Ann Mildred Parker was born in 1923 in Italy, Texas, to Mildred and Estil Parker. The family moved to Dallas in 1925 and Ann grew up in Oak Cliff. She graduated from Adamson High School and then received an Arts and Sciences degree from Southern Methodist University in 1945, after which she taught school for a year and a half and worked for the government for a year and a half. In 1948 she married Omar Paul Corley, who predeceased her in 2014. Throughout her adult life, Ann devoted herself to civic activities including the Dallas Symphony and Dallas Theater Center and, with her husband, served on the board of Theatre Three for 17 years. She and Paul were charter members of the Two X Two Sunday School class at Highland Park United Methodist Church, where they met many lifelong friends. Later they became superintendents of the junior and senior high Sunday School classes. She also served on the administrative board of HPUMC. Ann was a founding member of the Godby Lecture Series at SMU and continued to be involved in many SMU activities over the years. She enjoyed reading, Bible studies, world travel and entertaining at home. She had a passion for bridge and played in a lively foursome with friends for 25 years. She especially enjoyed the wonderful, joyful times with her precious family. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her two older brothers, Foster and Robert Parker. She is survived by son, Paul, and his wife Dolorie; daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Barry Schneider; granddaughter, Anne-Marie Corley; and granddaughter, Melissa Corley Carter, and her husband, Al Carter.A memorial service will be held in Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm on September 26. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to HPUMC.
