Anna Djinis' Obituary
DJINIS, ANNA 87 died, June 3,2012 in McKinney, TX. Born on May 13, 1925, in a neighborhood of Manhattan, New York once known as Hell’s Kitchen, to proud parents and Greek immigrants Efthefron and Mina Joannides. She was the youngest of three children. Anna, Annie, Ann, Yiayia (Grandmother in Greek) and Para Yiayia (Great grandmother), the Queen Mum was known as the matriarch of her family. By all her names she was an everlasting example of strength, bravery and the living soul of an angel. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife and sister, but her truest qualities of giving and tenderness were exemplified as a loving Mother. Her Greek heritage (bilingual in Greek and English) and Greek Orthodox faith were full of pride and conviction. She was a teacher of truth and honesty with an ability to express words of wisdom with eloquence. Most joyous to her were the many times when family was together cooking traditional Greek meals, gathered around a large table together to eat and share memories as a family. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Mills, daughter Marina Djinis, son and daughter-in-law Kim and Wendy Djinis, daughter and son-in-law Katina and Eric Zepp, grandson and granddaughter-in-Iaw Alexander and Krista Tacey, granddaughter Kristina Ann Djinis, and great grandson Nikolos Tacey. We will all miss you Mom. Services are scheduled for Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11 :00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to: Metroplex Cancer Outreach Organization, 10 Medical Pkwy, Plaza 3, Ste. 106, Dallas, TX 75234
