Anna Lou Herd's Obituary
Anna Lou Stevens Herd died August 29, 2014 at the age of 87 years in Royse City, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, P.W. Herd and her son, Ronald Ward Herd. Mrs. Herd is survived by her daughters, Dianne O’Neal and husband, Leo O’Neal, Connie Endres and husband, Ron Endres, and daughter, Pam Van Camp; grandchildren, Ronnie and Andrea Lawrence of Royse City, Texas, Bill and Jennifer Lawrence of Wylie, Texas, Heather, Russell and Ryan Endres of Wimberley, Texas and Bryan Van Camp, of Cash, Texas. Anna Lou Stevens was born July 27, 1927 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to William Clarence Stevens and Leta Faye Ramsey Stevens. Raised in “Dark Corners”, Ann was the daughter of sharecroppers. Her family lived and worked together and shared many happy times while living there. Brother, William D. Stevens and sister, Carol Joan Cannon have both passed this life. Sister, Oma Lajuan Stevens Jusko of Grand Prairie, Texas remains to tell her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews of childhood events and of strong hard working parents and grandparents who have shaped all our lives. Our mother, Ms. Anna Lou, was strong in her love for family and friends. She was a member of Casa View Baptist Church, Past National Gold Star Mother President, Purple Heart Foundation, and Veterans Hospital Volunteer. She was employed by Golden Acres Nursing Home as a Special Duty Sitter for more than twenty years. Mother was always there to help those who needed care or support. Graveside services for Anna will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park. Mrs. Herd will be laid to rest in the “Garden of Inspiration.” In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the “Wounded Warrior Project.”
