Anna D. King's Obituary
Anna D. (Warren) King, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in her assisted living in Humble Texas.
Born on June 16, 1928, in Anson, Texas, to Abbey Jewel Putnam and Charlie Warren, she grew up in nearby Abilene. After high school, she moved to Dallas, TX, where she met and married Lucius King on July 4th, 1957. She also began her long career (35 years) with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which was such an important part of her life. With the FBI she had the wonderful experience of living in Washington, D.C. for a period (crossing paths with J. Edgar Hoover on at least one occasion) and the notoriety of working in the Dallas office on the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated. More than that, though, she treasured the friendships she made while working there, which were her joy throughout her life.
Her family was also her joy, as she was a loving sister to Maureen, Joyce and Pepper, and a wise aunt to their children. Later in life, she lived in Addison, TX, near her younger sister, Pepper, with whom she attended the Central Christian Church, in University Park.
In 2018, she moved to an assisted living facility in Humble, TX, near her niece, Deena Westbrook, and especially enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family. During her short four years in Humble, she made some very good friends at her Rosemont residence, who, along with the staff, found her “very sweet and witty”.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Abbey Jewel (Jackie) Putnam and Charlie Warren, three sisters, Maureen Lambert, Joyce Francis and Betty (Pepper) Strain and nieces Teddy Lambert and Ginger Strain Manzer.
She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, Deena Westbrook, Monica Wommack, Bruce Francis, Bob Strain, Glenn Francis, Don Strain, Melissa Wright and Warren Lambert. She is also survived by 16 great nieces and nephews, 19 great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great niece.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home, in Dallas, TX, in the Wildwood Chapel. A visitation will be held 1 hr prior. A special thanks to the Tradition Hospice of Houston for their gentle and loving care during her final weeks.
